The Hinrich Foundation commissioned the Economist Intelligence Unit to build an index that measures the ability of 19 Asian economies and the U.S. to trade in a manner that supports the long-term goals of economic growth, environmental protection and social development.
You may download the index here www.hinrichfoundation.com and view the detailed data for each of the 20 countries.
The Index uses 24 indicators to measure 19 economies in Asia and the U.S. across the three recognized pillars of sustainability: economic growth, social capital, and environmental protection.
The Index measures the readiness of each economy to participate in global trade in a way that creates sustainable growth and attracts foreign direct investment, and funding and support from multilateral development agencies.
The Hinrich Foundation is a non-profit organisation that undertakes trade-related policy research and development work in Asia. It focuses on creating opportunities, choice and engagement through sustainable and mutually beneficial global trade. Through the Sustainable Trade Index, the Foundation aims to stimulate positive thinking about global trade and promote behaviours that will lead to better developmental outcomes, engagement and stability.
