Last week we held a discussion with experts and practitioners to gain tips on international travel for your business. By sharing ideas and tips, we were hoping to help the global tribe to avoid mistakes and increase chances that every trip across borders is as successful as it can be!

The panel's expertise is in protocol, business, safety and security. We were kept entertained throughout the one hour with stories and ideas to create more success for our future international trips! Enjoy!

Gloria Petersen, CPP, is founder/president of Global Protocol, Inc. Her dynamic presentations have inspired audiences for over 30 years to handle professional and social situations with class and finesse. Gloria is a graduate of the Protocol School of Washington® and other certifications include The Professional Image Institute, Dale Carnegie, and The Leadership Institute. Gloria is a renowned Certified Protocol Professional and author of The Art of Professional Connections, a four-guidebook series with companion Subject Matter Expert (SME) training modules. Her clients range from Fortune 100 companies to emerging entrepreneurs. Gloria hosted the FOX television series, “Image of Success,” served as etiquette judge on The Learning Channel, and has served as an expert on numerous radio and television shows. She has also published articles and served as a contributing columnist for magazines, trade publications, and corporate newsletters.

Roger Hurni brings a unique perspective as a creative visionary, brand strategist and business owner to the clients he serves. His background spans regional, national and international agency and entrepreneurial experience. Client experience includes: Doubletree Hotels,Starwood Hotels & Resorts, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Pei Wei Asian Diner, PetSmart, Nike, ABC Network, Wells Fargo and Safeway. His depth of experience gives him the knowledge needed to develop distinctive creative solutions based on sound business acumen. His belief is that great creative and marketing results stem from the alignment of behavioral triggers along the lifetime customer engagement path. Roger has served on the Arizona Interactive Marketing Association board as it's President and was twice awarded Interactive Marketing Person of the Year. He has been also named Ad Person of the Year and was Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist. He has served as a member of the prestigious Walter Cronkite Endowment Board. And currently, he is an active board member of K2 Adventures Foundation, an organization that supports orphanages in Tanzania and Peru.

Debora Rocha, Regional Security Manager at International SOS Brazil. Based in the Sao Paulo office Debora is the International SOS Regional Security Manager for Brazil.  Debora is primarily responsible for developing evacuation/communication strategies and training programs in support of client operations in Brazil and greater Latin America. She is also an experienced trainer for travel security awareness trainings, delivering more than 25 training sessions for clients globally in the past year, both in the Classroom and Virtual Classroom format. Many of her trainings focus on the travel security risks present in Brazil, as well as across Latin America. She is also the Training Coordinator for the Americas for all Personal Travel Security Awareness Training deliveries. Prior to joining Prior to joining ISOS, Debora spent 13 years with American Airlines working in their aviation security group as the Security Manager for Brazil.

Rick Buss, Executive Officer, Global Business Expansion at City of Peoria (AZ) focuses on raising the profile of Peoria, AZ locally, regionally, nationally, and globally. He has over 25 years of public/private sector executive experience. Rick was the Assistant City Manager for the City of Surprise where he founded an aggressive multilateral FDI strategy called “Surprise International” and a targeted marketing effort known as “C2B.” As Town Manager for the Town of Gila Bend, he attained over $2 billion in economic development in renewable energy and was also the founding City Manager for the City of Maricopa. Rick co-founded Envirosafe Technical, a 260-employee firm focused on advanced technology facilities, and served as the VP of Regional Operations of Pentagon Technologies/MPW Industrial Services, a 2,800 employee NASDAQ company. Rick’s senior management experience includes working in, and with, some of the largest organizations in the world. Rick also served as President of the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST), a non-profit organization, where he won 5 international awards. Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in International Marketing, a Masters in Public Administration (MPA), and a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Technology and Management (CSTM).
