The Inaugural Illinois-Azerbaijan Agricultural Forum Recap

Global Chamber was pleased to support the inaugural Illinois-Azerbaijan Agricultural Forum in Chicago, Illinois USA. It included the largest ever Agriculture Mission of 15 Azerbaijani agriculture companies and R&D institutions headed by the Minister of Agriculture, Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Inam Karimov.

Within the framework of the inaugural Forum, the delegation headed by the minister visited AGCO GSI grain and protein facilities in Assumption and Taylorville, IL. AGCO GSI, full-range grain, seed-processing and protein-production solutions, acquainted the Azerbaijani delegation with all-encompassing manufacturing processes.

On April 4, 2019, the Illinois-Azerbaijan Agriculture Forum convened with opening remarks by Mr. Reza Vaziri, Chairman, United States - Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Ms. Laura Ortega, Executive Director, International Business Council at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. H.E. Inam Karimov, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Brock D. Bierman, Assistant Administrator, USAID and H.E. Elin Suleymanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United States delivered keynote speeches.

Minister Karimov highly praised the initiative for establishing direct trade linkages between Azerbaijan and the U.S. He highlighted the importance of bilateral linkages in enhancing trade volume. The three-day program concluded on April 5, with a field trip to Cinnamon Ridge Farm in Donahue, IA and John Deere World Headquarters in Moline, IL.

Designed to facilitate investment and information sharing, enhance export-import opportunities between the two states, the Illinois – Azerbaijan Agricultural Forum continues to facilitate economic growth.
