AFCFTA, Free Trade and the Trade with Africa Business Summit

We encourage you to join us in a few weeks at the 2nd annual TWA... Trade with Africa Business Summit. The timing couldn't be more perfect, with the signing by Nigeria of AfCFTA this week.

Read more and attend TWA here... August 1-2 in Chicago.

You may have seen the quote from lead organizer of TWA Toyin Umesiri in our recent influencer blog post.

She said... “Africa is undergoing an unprecedented economic transformation to be ushered by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) going into effect. The continent is positioned as the next economic frontier, Global business leaders must therefore not only pay attention, but also develop effective strategies towards the region. Africa has 6 of the top 10 fastest growing economies in the world and the rate of urbanization and population growth creates new trade opportunities.”

AfCFTA is the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, a trade agreement between 54 African Union member states... with the signing this weekend of Nigeria and Benin... with the goal of creating a single market followed by free movement and a single-currency union.

The AfCFTA was originally signed in Kigali, Rwanda, on 21 March 2018. This weekend the President of Nigeria has signed the AfCFTA in Naimey, Niger creating the 'world's largest free trade area'.

His Excellency Albert Muchanga will be at TWA to deliver an important keynote address on why and how they pulled off creating the world's largest free trade area.

Now the work really begins in the private sector....and our Global Chamber network across Africa, along with collaborators like Toyin and the TWA Summit are aimed at increasing and accelerating member success.

This development again proves that trade can not be stopped by politicians. Business will find a way and the politicians will follow... because trade increases and distributes wealth in the world, making life better overall.

Attend the Trade with Africa Summit August 1-2.
