Global Trade and Supply Chain Impacts Post Brexit and Covid-19

Posted by: Yvonne Luker - Global Chamber on Tuesday, August 11, 2020

For this globinar we featured the Chief Economist at Equals, Jeremy Thomson Cook who discussed the impact of Brexit and Covid-19 on global trade and supply chain for companies doing business in and out of the UK and EU.

Special thanks to Katie Keith of Equals for arranging this opportunity! Watch the discussion HERE on youtube and contact us for more information.

Our expert speakers for this discussion were:

  • Jeremy Thomson-Cook - Chief Economist at Equals
  • Ryan Sachs - Business Development at V. Alexander & Co.
  • Caitlin H. Balderrama - Air & Ocean Branch Manager at Mainfreight Americas

Chief Economist Jeremy Thomson-Cook discussed about the possibility of one of the biggest economic bounce-backs in history in the coming months, considering the sharp decline and strong potential growth. Possible? Yes, but unlikely.

Jeremy shared that a 'V-shaped recovery' is a fantasy, except for some specific market segments. He also talked about the weak dollar and how that will be impacting exporters.

Brexit is set to move forward at the end of the year, and for that to happen successfully, many of the details will need to be worked out between the UK and the EU in the September and October time period. Stay tuned to Global Chamber for more.

Our supply chain and logistics experts discussed changes that are happening not just around the EU but also worldwide, and added other factors including the US-China trade war.

Listen to the conversation and reach out to any of the speakers or Global Chamber for more.
