Biographies
Zsofia Szlamka is a developmental psychologist and an entrepreneur. She is the founder of AMKA Counselling, a well-being platform providing remote counselling services and helping businesses develop employee mental health at the workplace. She is a PhD Candidate in King’s College London, investigating health inequalities, service development and empowerment of families raising children with developmental disorders in Ethiopia and in Argentina. She is a member of the Global Shapers Network and used to curate its Cambridge Hub. She co-founded VOICES, a women empowerment platform connecting young professional women with public speaking opportunities. She is passionate about equality of opportunities, loves learning about international development and is crazy about travelling – and reports about all these on her blog, The Travelling Psychologist.
VOICES is a project by the Global Shapers Cambridge and Global Shapers Dublin Hubs. VOICES is a platform that envisions a world where women are equally represented in panels, committees, at local and international events. As women are less likely to proactively seek dissemination of their professional achievements, VOICES aims to encourage women to share their expertise publicly. Firstly, it does so by providing conference organizers with a database of qualified female speakers from all backgrounds. Secondly, VOICES is offering workshops for women from a wide range of expertise on public speaking, personal branding and networking. These workshops offer an opportunity for women to share best practices, concerns and learn from each other how to sharpen their public engagement skills and build strong personal brands.
