International Commerce: Strategic Navigation of Law, Culture & Ethics

to Benefit Tennessee Businesses

Join us for this FREE moderator-led panel of outstanding professionals who will discuss the interrelating issues of law, culture and ethics that impact the potential flow of cross-border commerce for benefit of Tennessee business. The focus will be to illustrate how to engage in successful cross-border trade and manage risk in doing so.

Discussion by panelists will be interactive and include considerations to be made by attendees in: international contracting; risk mitigation provisions for cross border contracts; responding to the impact on commerce arising due to disparate local, national, and supranational laws, treaties and Conventions and cultures; dispute resolution options and increasing their enforceability; the impact of trade agreements on international trade, including their status specifically in light of the Section 232 investigation on autos and auto parts, the ongoing trade disputes between the U.S. and China and the potential for resolution of these disputes, possible U.S. – Japan Free Trade Agreement, possibility of a U.S. – E.U. trade agreement, the possibility of a U.S. - Great Britain trade agreement, the withdrawal by the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the proposed United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA); and, ethical considerations in cross-border business including the GDPR, U.K. Bribery Act, Federal Corrupt Practices Act, and anti-money laundering laws.
