Jermeale Lewis-Johnson LCB, CCS of Just Your BrokerJermeale contributed her expertise to various Customs Brokerage Firms and played a pivotal role in ensuring compliance at multiple importers. Noteworthy achievements include providing valuable guidance to a Customs Brokerage firm on processing DEA shipments, navigating FDA compliance for wood charcoal tablets, and devising effective strategies for proper HTS declaration preventing a Customs Brokerage from losing a crucial freight forwarding partnership.
During her tenure with a medical device importer, Jermeale honed her skills in trade compliance, specializing in enhanced HTS classification techniques, meticulous documentation review, and thorough auditing. At an electric vehicle importer, she initiated their record-keeping process, crafted SOPs for import compliance, and offered expertise on HTS misclassification to ensure the importance of justification.
Accumulating over 8 years in the industry, Jermeale has diversified her skill set in Customs clearance across various commodities, including plants, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, vehicles, dogs, and exotic foods such as caviar, octopus, and squid. Currently, she holds the position of Programming chair on the board of OWIT NY, facilitating events and expanding the chapter's reach. Her previous roles include Partnership, Membership and Marketing Co-chair.
Beyond her role as a Licensed Customs Broker, Jermeale is a Certified Customs Specialist and an advocate for industry education. She actively trains for the Customs Broker Exam and provides Import/Export Training. Jermeale earned her bachelor’s degree from Farmingdale State College.
