Biographies
Debbie Howard
Debbie Howard - Chairman, Chairman at the Carter Group-Japan Market Research Network (CarterJMRN KK). Author of the book The Caregiving Journey: Information. Guidance. Inspiration
Debbie lived and worked in Japan for 30+ years; she founded Japan Market Resource Network (JMRN) in 1989, merged in 2012 to form CarterJMRN.
Debbie translates consumer research into clear strategic direction for global clients across a wide range of categories (including Age-Tech). She also has served as President and Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) from 2004~2007, and as President Emeritus (2008~present).
Debbie is also a former caregiver on a mission to change the way the world looks at caregiving so the impacts are not so devastating. Her work focuses on providing companies with support programs for working caregivers to mitigate the related risks of absentee-ism, employee turnover, and extra healthcare costs.
With the launch of AMI and The Caregiving Journey in 2016, Debbie brought her market research acumen to the world of caregiving.
Her first book (The Caregiving Journey: Information. Guidance. Inspiration.) targets individuals and goes far beyond the basics of logistics, wills and funeral plans.
Her second book (Finding Hidden Profits: Unleash Rewards by Supporting Your Caregiving Employees) is due out in December 2021, and targets companies with practical ways forward in terms of supporting their employees who also serve as caregivers.
Rick Shapiro - President & CEO of The Wheatley Group. Author of the book Hope Never Dies.
Rick is a former practicing attorney, is a leading consultant and researcher in the field of safe, evidence-based, integrative and complementary cancer treatments. His commitment to inform people of cutting-edge therapies, that are saving lives and enhancing quality of life beyond statistical norms, brings real HOPE to people afflicted with late-stage and terminal cancer prognoses.
As a passionate advocate, Mr. Shapiro collaborates with internationally renowned cancer specialists. He has consulted with, and coached, patients throughout the United States and all over the world. Mr. Shapiro has interviewed hundreds of people who have thwarted dire metastatic cancer challenges, and who are enjoying life, 10, 15 and 25+ years, later. He is a member of numerous cancer associations, and a Board Member of two national non-profits that are dedicated to spreading the word about the profound value of evidence-based, integrative and complementary cancer treatments.

William Harding
William Harding - Distinguished Technical Fellow at Medtronic. Author of the book Mobile Medicine: Overcoming People, Culture, and Governance.
William is a Distinguished Technical Fellow with 39 years of industry experience, 23+ years at Medtronic, a BS in Computer Science emphasizing Electrical Engineering, a MS in Computer Science, completing his Ph.D., emphasizing Technology Integration. William is the emeritus chair of Medtronic’s Technical Fellows organization, emeritus chair of the Tempe Technical Guild, vice-chair of the workgroup IEEE/UL P2933 - Clinical IoT Data and Device Interoperability with TIPPSS, author (i.e., technical papers and book), and member of Medtronic’s Advanced Technologies & Data Sciences department (focused on technology within manufacturing and healthcare environments), which aligns with his SME emphasis on innovative vision/RF trace technology, process automation solutions, AI/ML, and numerous technology related patents/trade secrets.
William’s professional career spans environments such as missile testing (i.e., at both Eastern and Pacific Missile Test Centers), drug interdiction (U.S. Customs), rechargeable battery manufacturing (Energizer), and biomedical engineering. However, as a 5th generation Floridian, William will always have salt air in his lungs and beach sand between his toes. That love of the sunshine and beach sand is also shared by his wife and their furry babies “Roo” and “Ivi” (Cavapoochons), where they are constantly heading for nearby bodies of water.
Gloria Petersen
