Globinar Series on Trilateral Trade

Australia, United Kingdom & Japan - Part 2 of 3 on Trade

Who should attend? Business leaders in any of the three regions, looking to grow. Other business leaders looking to learn more about the business opportunities in Australia, Japan and the UK.

Join a dynamic global business line-up of speakers to explore emerging opportunities across the three regions. In this second session we'll be focused on trade/business opportunities.

International Trade Secretary Liz Truss in the UK discussed the move with ministers in Japan and New Zealand early in January 2021 and requested to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The impact of joining CPTPP will cut tariffs in trading with its 11 members along the Pacific rim, which also include Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, and Vietnam. UK trade with the group last year was worth £111 billion.

Australia and the UK have a significant  relationship underpinned by a shared heritage, common values, strong people-to-people links, closely aligned strategic outlook and interests and substantial trade and investment links. The Australia–Japan partnership is its most mature across Asia for Australia and is fundamentally important to both countries' strategic and economic interests. Japan was Australia's second-largest trading partner and second-largest export market, and third-largest source of foreign direct investment at the end of 2019.
