Mining is an essential activity to drive social, cultural and economic development in Mexico and worldwide. The mining industry is associated with economic, technological and cultural development combined with social welfare.
The mining industry in Mexico is a pilar for the development of the country. Mexico is the 5th best destination worldwide for mining investment, being one of the productive sectors that attracts substantial capital to the country.
According to the Mexican Geological Service (Servicio Geológico Mexicano), Mexico ranks withing the 10 first places worldwide in the production of 16 metals and minerals.
In this regard, mining in the Americas has sustainability standards that are applied by responsible and inclusive companies, generators of social development. Three international speakers will be sharing their experiences, and the practices that the mining companies they represent have, to commit with sustainability standards.

Biographies
Angie Robson
Vice President, Corporate Affairs & Social Responsibility at Torex Gold Resources Inc.
Ms. Robson has more than 20 years of experience with a specialized focus in the mining industry. She joined Torex in 2020 after spending 15 years at Vale (formerly Inco) in roles of increasing responsibility, most recently leading Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability for the Company’s North Atlantic Operations and Asian Refineries. Through her career, Ms. Robson has built a strong proficiency in issues management and is credited with building productive relationships with a broad range of audiences including employees, governments, indigenous communities and community stakeholders. She was honoured to receive an Eagle Feather from Sagamok First Nation in 2019 for her ongoing partnership, which is one of the highest honours a First Nation community can bestow. Prior to joining Vale in 2005, Ms. Robson served as the Chief Communications Advisor and Press Secretary to the Ontario Minister of Energy and has also worked for major corporate affairs agencies including Hill & Knowlton Canada and Navigator Limited.
Ms. Robson holds an Honours BA from Laurentian University and an MBA from McGill University. She currently sits as a Director of the Health Sciences North Hospital Foundation and an Associate Director of the World Gold Council. She has previously served as Chair of the Ontario Mining Association (OMA) Communications and Outreach Committee and as a Director of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, the Sudbury Food Bank and Cinefest Sudbury. In 2011 was honoured with a ‘Top 40 Under Forty’ award from Northern Ontario Business for her leadership and contributions to the advancement of Northern Ontario.
Jerry Hanna is the CEO, President and Founder of Clearflow Group US Inc located in Phoenix, AZ, and Clearflow Group Inc (Canadian division) located in Sherwood Park, AB. He is the inventor of Clearflow's Gel Flocculant, the Gel Flocculant Water Treatment Systems, ASRT Wastewater Treatment Systems, and the Lynx line of treatment products for soil erosion and sediment binding. With over 40 years of experience, Jerry consults on major mine, industrial, and land development projects across North America and internationally related to water management, solids management, and erosion/soil stabilization, including Canada, United States, Mexico, Chile, South America, India, Brazil, Nigeria Israel and Iraq, Middle East, United Kingdom, Croatia and China. Clearflow now has expanded their distribution market out of the US to the United Kingdom, Brazil, Suramacca, Suranam, Australia, and Nigeria.
Mr. Hanna has won several awards, including the prestigious ASTECH science award, and was named in 2014 and 2016 one of the “Top 50 technology innovators in Canada” by the Manning Award Foundation. He was the keynote speaker selected by the National Research Council of Canada in 2015 to represent water technology at the Acqueau Water Conference in Paris, France. Jerry donates his time to further the education of the next generation of environmental stewards by lecturing and mentoring university students in the faculties of Engineering, Chemistry and Environmental Science at the University of Alberta. Since opening operations in Arizona, he has expanded his support of young engineers and entrepreneurs by making an alliance with the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and conducting lectures for their students.

Mel is founder and President at Mel Sanderson Consulting, leading Corporate Social Responsibility Programs, Government and Public Relations and Effective Management in a Global Context. She has a 20-year diplomatic career and deep and wide international business experience. She speaks 7 languages, fluent in 3. Previously Mel was Vice President of International Affairs at Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold. Before that she was a political counselor at the United States’ Department of State, where she was a Political Officer and Charge d'Affairs at the US Embassy in the Congo. She also worked as a corporate investment advisor at Fifth Third Bank. Melissa has a B.A. in Economics, a B.A. in English Literature and an MBA degree from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Gabriela Castro

She has more than 10 years of experience and expertise in the mining industry in Mexico, the United States and Canada supporting companies entering these markets and organizing road trips.
Gabriela is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Trade in Motion, a business development consulting firm that specializes in assisting and supporting small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs) to enter or expand into the Mexican, American and Canadian markets. Incorporated in Arizona, Trade in Motion validates and evaluates the markets to find opportunities for companies. Some areas of expertise managed are international business development, business support, business contacts, personal business assistance, and specialized outsourcing of technical services.
Fluent in Spanish, English, and French, Gabriela holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management and Administration from Hautes Études Commerciales/Montréal University in Canada.
