Executives continuing to work on their leadership should attend to gain new insights into what it takes. Attendees might be surprised at what is discussed, and we'll have plenty of time for questions and answers, and discussion.

There are over 60,000 books on Amazon about leadership that explain, offer, contribute, qualify, quantify different views of what leadership is. If any of those books really worked, we could narrow it down to one or two that when you read them, you go out and lead effectively in any challenging situations you encounter. That's not the case. We assert that almost none of those books gives one “access” to the “being” part of Leader and Leadership. 

In this virtual 'globinar', we will have an honest discussion to what is missing in nearly all the books you'll read that prevents leadership from showing up on the field as distinct from describing it from the peanut gallery. This will not be a lecture but a discussion. We are anxious to discover what might really work to produce Leaders. Here we go! Welcome to "What is Leadership, Really?".

We're pleased to discuss the core of what leadership is, as learned from top expert Barry Berman. We'll also get the perspectives from three other leadership experts around the world. And we open this to our community to comment as well!

Biographies

Barry Berman is an international business, management, and corporate consultant, with a record of accomplishment and achievement in bringing forth new possibilities for one’s work and personal life. His participation in innovative ideas and models of individual, organizational and social transformation have impacted such diverse fields as business, education, philosophy, medicine, psychotherapy, conflict resolution, and community building. He has participated in contributing to the fields of philosophy, linguistics, consulting that is incorporated by many Fortune 100 companies. Mr. Berman has worked with such organizations, as Accenture, Bell Canada, Federal Aviation Administration, Lockheed Martin Space, Alcan, Dow Chemical, Honeywell, and Gallo Winery as well as, school administrations throughout the US), non-profits (such as Colorado Youth at Risk, and Hemingway Foundation).

As an executive performance coach, trainer, and breakthrough project leader, Barry has worked with thousands of people in Fortune 100 companies. His work has brought him to Europe, Australia, South America, and the Far East. Barry started his own consulting practice in 2000 after working for nine years with a New Jersey based Consulting Firm and eight years working for a major training and development company, leading personal development, and educational courses.

Barry has a Bachelor of Science degree from Stony Brook University, NY. His studies earned degrees in both Psychology and Education. He lives near Boulder, Colorado with his wife Penny, the winner of the distinguished 2021 Book Pipeline competition for middle grade writing and daughter Brianna. Plus, two rag doll cats and Gizmo the papillon.

Desiree Perez is Coach Community Director at Sayge Coaching. Born in Argentina, and raised between Argentina and Germany, she quickly discovered a passion for aviation. As a child she spent many hours at the airport watching airplanes take-off and land. As her first job opportunity popped up, it was no surprise that this was also at the airport as a Customer Service Agent. She loved this work so much that she quickly grew through the ranks with the opportunity to relocate to the United States in 2011. She continued her aviation career in various senior level positions. In 2015 she realized that there was something more: Focusing on human performance, leadership, organizational culture and team performance. After completing a master’s in leadership and strategy, she gained an Executive Coach certification and started her own business in 2016. During this time she coached hundreds of leaders, mostly for Fortune 500 companies to elevate their leadership Today she leads a Global Coach Community with nearly 100 global coaches for Sayge Coaching. At Sayge, we support companies and employees on their professional and leadership development journeys.

Aparna Ranadive is Executive Director, Global Chamber® Mumbai. She is a socially conscious HR professional, with an entrepreneurial bent of mind, and has a desire to make a difference to the Organization, People and Society, she is associated with. Her experience in the field of HR, spans about 25 years. A Microbiologist by basic qualification, & an alumnus of NMIMS, where she completed her Masters degree in HRM from, Aparna has contributed to HR, in varied industry sectors such as Retail, Media and Entertainment, Financial Services & Consulting, Investment Banking, Telecom, Engineering & Manufacturing etc & held senior & leadership positions in many.

While she worked in the Corporate as a member of the Top Leadership teams, & Heading the HR function for large organisations, she has contributed to the overall strategy & growth of the organisation by Partnering with Business, Taking initiatives & spearheading interventions that would enable, people growth & thus the business growth. Consultative engaging with senior leaders on various people development interventions, Change Management, Talent Management, Learning & Organisation Development, Employer Branding & Campus Recruitment & Process Improvement have been areas of specific passion and work.

Aparna’s entrepreneurial journey began with the formation of “Practical Magic Advisory Services & Solutions”, as a boutique Strategic Leadership & HR Consulting practice, as Founder & CEO.  The offerings under the ambit, are Start Up Advisory, Executive Search, Managerial & Leadership Excellence Training, Coaching & Counselling of CXOs, Talent Engagement.
