A message from Christopher... Juneteenth is a national holiday in the United States and one in which there is an opportunity to educate the world about the end of slavery in the US. Slavery officially ended in Galveston, Texas at least two years after President Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves.
Fast forwarding to 2022, we are remembering the day by addressing how do we increase the business growth of Black businesses in America? I have found that that endeavor is somewhat selfish and limited as the trade of people impacted us collectively from Africa to United States and the Caribbean Islands. How do we move from Juneteenth to an initiative to help us grow collectively?
I personally believe real increase comes from having a business that can operate and serve the entire world and be truly global with products and services. This is why I love Global Chamber! The focus above for Juneteenth is limiting to the US and is not a global solution. The true growth is to connect the relationships that were broken from slavery and build companies from continent to continent in unity. With the Global Chamber platform and the growth of technology we have the best opportunity to grow together. Members and future members... are you willing to participate and create an impact?
I have been the President/Executive Director, and Chairman for Black chamber of commerce organizations and representing Black owned-businesses (for over 8 years at the city level, state level, and at the White House). While I worked and served there were two things that troubled me and kept me awake at night. The first problem was how to scale a Black businesses up by building capacity and increasing contracting wins at every level. The second problem and void that I have felt, and still feel empty (hence why I am reaching out) in some respect, I see the disconnect between Black people who are divided from Africa to the Caribbean Islands to the US - all a part of the African Diaspora. I am hopeful because I see Rubby Golo (Ghana) and Debbie-Adesola (Nigeria), Derek Bbanga (Kenya) and various Global Advisors doing great work motivating their respective markets. I am also hopeful because of my wife Stefanie and Sister-In-Law Dana who have agreed to support this initiative.
I have seen the vision to have a year-long conversation series, with opportunity sharing and incorporating each of YOU as the bridge to growing our success and increase the Global Tribe. We will use Juneteenth in America as a spring board to launch the Bridge Builder Series. The Bridge will connect us - and keep us engaged with each other to create new opportunities and success.
Our concept is to explore areas of business and create a roundtable of experts to moderate topics, share opportunities, network and grow. This series is not to point blame at people, countries or institutions. We are a solution series to grow our collective businesses and create victories and financial wins.
