Biographies

Meseret Warner a Venture Partner for FM Capital Group. She is the founder and managing director at Ignite Investment, a growth accelerator/investment advisory firm facilitating financing for Ethiopian businesses, especially women owned SMEs and building their capacity to enable them utilize these resources as well as run their businesses successfully. Meseret was the President of the African Women Entrepreneur Program (AWEP), Ethiopia chapter in which she helped facilitate governance, strategic planning, fundraising activities, board meetings and decision-making for the betterment of its members and the organization.

Meseret has more than twenty years of extensive global professional experience in various sectors such as advisory services, manufacturing, MICE and IT as well as international development. She has been working with both small and large clients ranging from Ethiopian businesses seeking capital investments and support to grow their businesses to international investors looking for local investment opportunities in emerging markets. Recent advisory experiences include successfully raising over $20 million for the Addis Africa International Convention and Exhibition Center Share Company public private partnership project including a reorganization of the company. Current projects include logistics, Soybean processing, fashion design, honey, and tourism.

Meseret has established many important strategic partnerships with several stakeholders in the Ethiopian SME support ecosystem and is able to easily create partnerships where necessary. She has a background in IT, economics, and globalization; and holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Mathematics as well as a master’s in Globalization and Development Economics.

Osayi Igharo is the founding and managing partner at Ripple VC. He is also head of deal flow origination and investor relations at a Boston family office. Prior to founding Ripple VC, Osayi was the Startup Director at GSVlabs, Silicon Valley's second largest technology incubator.

Osayi has extensive business development experience in technology and innovation from the US, Canada, and Nigeria. His operating focus is in strategy development and execution, technology commercialization, and client acquisition and retention.

Osayi holds a BSBA in Management from the American University of Nigeria and an MBA in Technology Entrepreneurship from Kansas State University.

Shalom Bako is Managing Director at Afrivana. He was born and raised in Northern Nigeria. Shalom moved to the United States as teenager; excelling as an athlete with teams like the Los Angeles Galaxy. Groomed by unique international experiences, Shalom returned to West Africa, focused on agricultural development, manufacturing and distribution. He also serves on the Global Chamber® Los Angeles advisory board.  

Shalom is passionate about connecting the African continent with the global diasporas; using agricultural trade and development as a primary vehicle. "Innovation for Africa, must be lead by Africans.”
