Globinar DEI in the Global Marketplace

Addressing the Challenges and Planning for Success

Thursday, July 18th at 8am PT / 11am ET / 3pm Accra / 4pm London / 5pm CET / 5pm Tel Aviv + Kiev / 6pm Nairobi / 7pm Dubai / 8:30pm Mumbai / 11pm Singapore

Friday, July 19th at 12am Seoul + Tokyo / 2am Sydney

According to the United Nations Global Impact: One in six people worldwide experience discrimination in some form, with women and people with disabilities disproportionately affected. Inequality threatens long-term social and economic development, jeopardizes social cohesion, harms poverty reduction and causes disparities in opportunities and outcomes, impeding economic efficiency. Promoting diversity, equity and inclusion throughout business operations is an important step in tackling inequality and eliminating discrimination worldwide.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are different but complementary concepts. A business is required to implement all three aspects to reap the full benefits of a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce contributing a range of skills, knowledge, and experience. Diversity, equity and inclusion go hand in hand.

Diversity often focuses on quantity; equity and inclusion are focused on quality.

Diversity refers to people of different backgrounds including race, gender, sexual orientation, disabilities, religions, cultures and opinions.  Today many are viewing DEI through the lens of  intersectionality which acknowledges that individuals hold multiple identities that intersect and influence their experiences in the workplace.

Because globalization is creating business opportunities all over the world., it is more important than ever that workplaces become increasingly diverse. However, this expansion of the marketplace creates challenges to execute DEI effectively.  In this globinar we will have speakers from diverse backgrounds sharing their journeys on addressing DEI in their individuals lives and their success as executives in the US and in the global context.   In 2024 there has been an increase in hate crimes, a push back on DEI programs in some corporations and universities, and in the US, heightened rhetoric as we approach an election.  How do these changes in attitudes have an impact on individuals and companies? To ensure the greatest chance for success, it’s important that companies and leadership understand and embrace social and cultural differences to avoid misunderstandings and create productive and profitable workplaces.

Our panel includes people from different identities who are pioneers in taking on leadership roles.  Our panelists include the first Black Woman to lead a public company in a male dominated industry – recycling, a Muslim Woman recognized as a thought leader on Muslim women's rights and a voice against Islamophobia in the business sector, a 2nd generation Filipino American daughter of immigrants who helps BIPOC entrepreneurs succeed, a global DEI expert who has 20 years of experience in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and cultural competence development and an expert DEI in a Global Context with a particular expertise in LATAM.

The key goal of this globinar is to give suggestions on how organizations can ensure they implement successful and long-lasting DEI+ initiatives in their organizations in the global marketplace.
