Understanding Foreign Investment Under USMCA
Hosted by Global Chamber® Querétaro and DeForest Attorneys
The Global Chamber® Querétaro, in collaboration with DeForest Attorneys, proudly presents an exclusive and timely presentation titled "Understanding Foreign Investment Under USMCA". This high-impact event is designed to provide multinational organizations, investors, legal professionals, and senior business executives with deep insights into the legal frameworks, compliance obligations, and emerging risks associated with foreign investment in North America under the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
As the geopolitical and economic dynamics of North America evolve, foreign investment strategies must be underpinned by a nuanced understanding of international trade agreements. This event will explore the implications of the USMCA on cross-border investment, with a particular emphasis on scenarios involving treaty suspension or renegotiation — key risks that all foreign investors must now consider seriously in their long-term planning.
Through a sophisticated legal and strategic lens, attendees will gain clarity on how to navigate compliance requirements, reduce legal exposure, and ensure alignment with the latest provisions and enforcement mechanisms under the USMCA.
Key Themes to Be Explored:
- Overview of investment provisions under USMCA and their legal implications
- Current and potential future risks for foreign investors
- What happens in case of treaty suspension or renegotiation
- Strategic recommendations for legal and operational compliance
- Lessons learned from recent disputes and arbitration trends
This session will be led by legal experts Rodrigo Márquez Romero and Rodrigo Vázquez Miranda, recognized in international trade and foreign investment law. With their deep legal knowledge and practical experience advising multinational clients, the presenters will offer both technical clarity and actionable guidance tailored to today’s complex trade and investment environment.
