Amb. Ezra Chiloba - Consul General
Consulate General of the Republic of Kenya, Los Angeles
Mr. Ezra Chiloba is a distinguished public sector leader with a fervent belief that a progressive society is shaped by a facilitative government. Before his appointment as Kenya’s Consul General in Los Angeles, he served as the Director General and CEO of the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA), a leading regulatory body for the ICT sector in Kenya. Prior to joining CA, he was a principal partner at Chil & Kemp Strategies Ltd, a management consulting firm focusing on strategy and risk management, policy and regulatory analysis, and leadership and management effectiveness.
In 2015, Mr. Chiloba was honored to be appointed CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and served until 2018. During his tenure, he managed and oversaw an extensive and complex national election program, providing stable leadership during the tumultuous 2017 elections.
His career has spanned several esteemed organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Oxfam International, Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), South Consulting Ltd, and the Centre for Minority Rights and Development. He also served as a board member of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund. In summary, Mr. Chiloba boasts over 20 years of significant public sector experience at both local and international levels, demonstrating an ability to work across borders for the collective benefit of all.
In his private capacity, Mr. Chiloba has business interests in both fintech and agri-tech, large scale production and export of fresh fruits and coffee, as well as public sector consulting. Mr. Chiloba holds an MSc in Major Programme Management (MMPM) from the University of Oxford (UK) and an MA in Public Policy (MPP) from the Central European University (Hungary). He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates of the High Court in Kenya. In 2015, he was recognized among the Top 40 under 40 Men by Business Daily.
Amb. Walkowa Akinyi Odinga - Deputy Head of Mission
Consulate General of the Republic of Kenya, Los Angeles
Ambassador Walkowa Akinyi Odinga holds the position of Deputy Head of the Kenya Mission in Los Angeles, bringing a wealth of experience from both governmental and non-profit sectors. Her professional background includes serving as Executive Director of a Foundation and a Non-Profit Organization, as well as roles as a Development Consultant, Licensed Psychotherapist, and Accredited Executive Coach. She possesses a doctorate in Public Administration with a focus on Peace Studies (Conflict Transformation), a Master's degree in Executive Management Coaching, and postgraduate qualifications in Existential Psychotherapy and Women's Studies. Ambassador Odinga's expertise spans gender issues, conflict transformation, evaluation, and psychosocial support, with extensive experience in civil society.
Her competencies include human rights advocacy, community empowerment for women and children, research, policy development, and organizational assessment. Her work has been conducted across Africa, including in regions affected by conflict. Ambassador Odinga advocates for motivational and inspiring leadership, effectively conveying positive messages to diverse audiences. She values collaborative learning and is invigorated by co-creating solutions in both individual and organizational settings, ensuring that all participants feel valued, respected, and empowered.
