Welcome to the initial Africa Trade & Investment Conference supported by Global Chamber® Tanzania and Zanzibar. Welcome leaders in Tanzania and from across Africa and the world, to share and engage with new opportunities for regional and global growth.

Featuring H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

This event is hosted by the Tanzania Minister of Industry and Trade in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Africa is undergoing a profound transformation driven by continental frameworks like the African Union Agenda 2063, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and long-term national visions such as Tanzania Vision 2050. These frameworks reflect the continent’s ambition to become a powerhouse of inclusive growth, industrial innovation, and globally competitive trade.

Tanzania Vision 2050 envisions the country as a prosperous, industrialized, and knowledge-based economy. Aligned with Agenda 2063, which calls for integrated and prosperous Africa driven by its own citizens, and underpinned by AfCFTA, which connects over 1.4 billion people in a single market, Tanzania is strategically placed as a gateway economy.

With its robust infrastructure corridors (ports, railways, roads), a growing industrial base, expanding digital ecosystem, and access to both landlocked and coastal markets, Tanzania is uniquely positioned to drive Africa's economic integration and global trade.

The Africa Trade & Investment Conference 2025 aims to convene high-level stakeholders from all 54 African countries, global investors, policymakers, and innovators to capitalize on these developments and create a thriving, interconnected trade and investment ecosystem.

Objectives
  • Promote Tanzania’s strategic position as a gateway for African and global markets.
  • Facilitate dialogue among policymakers, investors, innovators, and development partners.
  • Advance sector-specific investment opportunities in key areas for Tanzania and Africa.
  • Agriculture, technology, manufacturing, tourism, health, logistics, energy & creative industries.
  • Support startups and youth through poster presentations and breakout sessions.
  • Drive public-private partnerships and MoUs to strengthen bilateral and regional cooperation.
  • Encourage women and youth inclusion in investment and trade dialogues.
  • Bring together leaders for advancing business, trade, export and global mindset.

This event is an initiative of Neema Mleli, Executive Director of Global Chamber® Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam.

We hope and expect that this will be the first of many important conferences that spotlight the opportunities of the region, making the additional connections that create additional success.

Featured Speakers

H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan

President of United Republic of Tanzania

President Samia Suluhu Hassan is the sixth President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the first woman President, elected in March 2021 following the death of President John Magufuli. Previously she served as Vice President of Tanzania from 2015. Additional previous roles in Government include serving as Minister of State in the Vice-President's Office, responsible for Union Affairs (2010-2015) and Minister in the semi-autonomous government of her home region of Zanzibar (2000-2010).

The role of the private sector as an engine of growth has been given renewed emphasis with increased attention to addressing major constraints on private investment. The Government recently announced the removal of barriers to access to education, including those that had prevented pregnant girls and young mothers from attending formal school, a reflection of the Government’s commitment to supporting girls and young women.

Her government is proactively engaging with multilateral and bilateral partners in the region and around the world. The Government has also been actively pushing the climate agenda, its commitment reflected in President Samia’s own participation at the COP 26 meetings in Glasgow in 2021.

Under her leadership as President, the Government appointed an expert committee to advise on Tanzania’s COVID-19 response. Following the Committee’s recommendations, authorities have resumed reporting COVID-19 data to the World Health Organization while deploying vaccines across the country. President Samia launched the vaccination program in August 2021 and continues to champion safe public health protocols.
