Tahmina Watson - Owner/Experienced Immigration Attorney at Watsons Immigration Law PLLC
Tahmina Watson earned her law degree from Brunel University, London in 2000 and was Called to the Bar in 2002 as a member of Middle Temple Inn. After completing pupillage at Bridewell Chambers in 2004, she practiced criminal defense in London and was a Door Tenant at Temple Court Chambers until recently. She moved to the U.S. in 2005 and was admitted to the New York Bar in 2006.
Tahmina co-founded White & Watson in 2006, practicing U.S. immigration law until 2008. Before that, she externed with Judge Ricardo Martinez (U.S. District Court, Western Washington) and interned at the Northwest Women’s Law Center.
She is admitted to practice in Washington State, New York, and the federal court of Western District of Washington. She’s a member of AILA, King County Bar Association, and an unregistered member of the Bar of England and Wales. Past memberships include the International Bar Association and ABA. She remains a member of Middle Temple, UK.
Tahmina is an Adjunct Fellow at The Niskanen Center, advising on immigration policy. She serves as Chair of AILA WA’s Response Committee and as First Vice President on the King County Bar Association Board of Trustees. She co-founded WIDEN, a nonprofit aiding immigrants in crisis.
She serves on the board of Point Hope, supports groups like Northwest Immigrants Rights Project and One America, and volunteers at legal clinics. She also supports Chaya, a nonprofit helping South Asian women facing abuse.
She chairs the Legal Advisory Committee of the Global Entrepreneur in Residence Coalition, writes for Above the Law and Entrepreneur Magazine, and previously led KCWWL and served on other legal boards. She was Advocacy Consultant for the film For Here or To Go?
Tahmina is a passionate immigration advocate, frequent speaker, author, and host of Tahmina Talks Immigration and The Startup Visa podcasts. She advises nonprofits and policymakers on immigration matters.
Fluent in Bengali and conversational in Hindi/Urdu, Tahmina enjoys bird photography, sketching, volunteering, listening to audiobooks, and spending time with family. She is also the creator of Pinky’s Shoebags.
