Independence and Republic Day

Tanzania's Independence and Republic Day on December 9th commemorates Tanganyika's independence from British rule in 1961 and the subsequent establishment of a republic in 1962. It also marks the 1964 unification of Tanganyika and the People's Republic of Zanzibar to form the United Republic of Tanzania. The day celebrates freedom, national unity, and the country's journey toward self-governance and development.
