Globinar Global Chamber® Los Angeles Metro Meetup

Special Topic: Important Treaties Every Person Doing International Business Needs to Know

Featuring the Convention on the International Sale of Goods

Featuring Jeff Daar, Senior Principal at Daar & Newman, Lawyers

Doing business across borders adds another dimension to your business operations.  There are a number of treaties that the U.S. and many other countries are members that directly affect international business.  The treaty that will be focused on at this Globinar is the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods often referred to as the CISG or Vienna Convention.  It is the law of the countries that have ratified the treaty.  More than two-thirds of the world’s countries are signatories to the CISG.  The CISG applies to most international sales of goods.

Do you know when the CISG applies and what are its advantages and disadvantages?  Learn the essential basics of the CISG.  This program will include discussion of the following topics:

  • Background of the CISG
  • Application of the CISG
  • Comparisons to the Uniform Commercial Code in the United States.
