The Future of U.S.-Africa Trade Under AGOA: Policy Priorities and Business Opportunities
As the African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGO) is scheduled to expire at the end of 2026, policymakers, businesses, and trade advocates are increasingly focused on the future of U.S.-Africa trade. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative has emphasized modernizing the U.S.-Africa trade relationship, while the U.S. Department of Commerce has identified key trade and sector priorities that will shape its trade relations around the world.
Sarita D. Jackson, PhD will discuss the current AGOA framework based on her continuous research on trade agreements and preference programs. Dr. Jackson will highlight the AGOA legislative process in the United States, share any government policy perspectives, and offer practical recommendations for strengthening U.S.-Africa trade opportunities in the 21st century, with particular attention to the needs of small businesses and entrepreneurs in both the United States and throughout the African continent.
By the end of this globinar, attendees will have the knowledge and practical tools to prepare for the next phase of US-Africa trade relations.
