UNSTOPPABLE Bangladesh connects the globe!

Bangladesh is emerging as a major South Asian trade, manufacturing, investment and sourcing destination, offering international companies access to a large domestic market, a young workforce and strategic connectivity between South Asia, Southeast Asia and global markets. With a population of approximately 176 million and GDP of about US$456 billion in 2025, Bangladesh combines significant consumer-market potential with an increasingly diversified industrial and services economy.

The country exported goods to 202 markets in FY2024–25, generating approximately US$44.17 billion in export earnings, with major products including ready-made garments, knitwear, home textiles, frozen and live fish, agricultural products, jute and jute goods, leather, footwear and engineering products. Bangladesh has established strong commercial relationships across North America, the European Union, the United Kingdom, East Asia, South Asia and the Middle East. The United States remains a leading individual export market, while Germany, the UK, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Italy and Canada are among major destinations. Bangladesh's established export relationships demonstrate its capacity to serve demanding international markets and provide foreign companies with opportunities for global sourcing, contract manufacturing, supply-chain partnerships, distribution, import-export, outsourcing and market expansion.

Beyond its established apparel base, Bangladesh is actively positioning itself for the next generation of investment. The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) has identified high-potential opportunities across 19 sectors, including core apparel, pharmaceuticals, agro-processing, IT-enabled services, advanced textiles, renewable energy, automotive parts, footwear, light engineering, leather, logistics, electronics and assembly, EV batteries, medical devices, technical textiles, toys, APIs, semiconductors and plastics. The country's investment proposition is strengthened by its large workforce, growing digital economy, expanding infrastructure and strategic location connecting major Asian markets. BIDA highlights Bangladesh's potential as a gateway to South and Southeast Asia and a market serving more than 3 billion consumers, alongside opportunities in RMG, pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, leather, footwear, electronics, light engineering, shipbuilding, renewable energy and technology-enabled services.

Bangladesh is also developing an increasingly dynamic startup and innovation ecosystem. For international investors, this creates opportunities beyond traditional manufacturing—particularly in fintech, logistics, e-commerce, digital services, SaaS, climate technology, healthcare, agritech and technology-enabled business models. With BIDA facilitating foreign investment and promoting investment-ready projects, Bangladesh offers international companies a platform for market entry, regional expansion, strategic partnerships, sourcing, manufacturing, technology collaboration and long-term investment in one of Asia's most commercially significant emerging markets.

For companies from emerging economies, Bangladesh presents opportunities for two-way trade, investment and strategic partnerships. Southeast Asian businesses from markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines can explore partnerships in food processing, halal products, consumer goods, electronics, automotive components, logistics, tourism, digital services, manufacturing and regional supply chains, while Bangladeshi companies can provide sourcing, manufacturing and market-entry opportunities into South Asia. Middle Eastern companies—particularly from the Gulf—can explore opportunities in agribusiness and food security, halal food, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, renewable energy, logistics, real estate-linked infrastructure, hospitality and consumer products, while Bangladesh offers an increasingly important sourcing and production base.

African markets offer substantial potential for reciprocal trade and investment in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, affordable consumer goods, garments and textiles, agro-processing, agricultural technology, light engineering, construction materials, renewable energy, logistics and digital services. Bangladesh's competitive manufacturing capabilities and experience in serving international markets can complement Africa's expanding consumer markets and infrastructure needs. Meanwhile, Latin American and South American businesses can explore partnerships in pharmaceuticals, generic medicines, agro-processing, fertilizers and agricultural inputs, textiles, footwear, leather, engineering products, renewable energy, ICT and digital services, while Bangladeshi businesses can gain access to new markets for manufactured and value-added products.

For international businesses seeking a cost-competitive production base, a large consumer market, a young workforce, new sourcing destinations and a gateway to South and Southeast Asia, Bangladesh offers an increasingly broad platform for trade, investment and long-term strategic partnerships.
