Fawzia Peer
Deputy Mayor (Former) of eThekwini Municipality | National Executive Committee Member, ANC | Labour Consultant & Mediator | Advocate for Women’s Empowerment
Fawzia Peer is a seasoned politician, labour consultant, mediator, and civic leader with over 30 years of experience in local government, labour relations, women’s empowerment, and community development. She has served as Deputy Mayor of eThekwini Municipality, Chief Whip, and Executive Committee Member, leading initiatives in governance, infrastructure, and civic engagement.
Fawzia Peer is a National Executive Committee Member of the ANC since 2023 and has held leadership roles in professional and civic organisations, including the Minara Chamber of Commerce and Business and Professional Women’s Associations.
A qualified mediator and labour consultant, Fawzia Peer holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Relations, and an Honours in Social Science. She has presented at international forums such as the World Economic Forum and the Harvard Training Institute, advocating for clean governance, sustainable development, and women in leadership.
Her work has been recognised with awards including the Standard Bank KZN Top Business Women Award and the Good Governance Award.
