Anita Rodal
Founder and President at SBPI Services
SBPI Services, Inc. represents one of the oldest and largest non-bank currency exchange companies in the US, as an independent, outsource business developer. The exchange company works with both corporate and personal clients, lowering their costs for cross-border payments by providing preferential rates, eliminating foreign wire transfer fees, and offering strategies for managing rate fluctuations. Typical clients include importers, multi-national businesses, and people buying real estate in other parts of the world.
Another facet of the services provided by SBPI Services, Inc. focuses on communications. This includes private pronunciation coaching for non-native (and non-American) English speakers who want to reduce their accents when speaking English. Classes are held via skype, so clients can be located anywhere in the world. Typical clients include business professionals, actors, and diplomats.
SBPI Services also offers a webinar called, 'About Your Elevator Pitch', If you've ever tried to write out your 30-second elevator pitch, you've probably realized that the hardest part isn't coming up with enough things to include... it's deciding what to leave out. This simple system makes it easy! The webinar is ideal for experienced business professionals, non-profit representatives, and even graduating college students. Having lived in Venezuela for 3.5 years, Anita is fluent in Spanish. She has family spread out all over the world and enjoys visiting them. Her passions include traveling and cat rescue. Anita has spoken at conferences across the US, as well as in Mexico and Spain. Anita holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics from UC Irvine, and a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from Cal Poly Pomona.

William (Bill) Edwards has a four-decade career accelerating the international growth of more than 30 companies. His career covers international operations, executive and entrepreneurial experience in the energy, technology, licensing, food and beverage, management consulting and retail sectors. Brian Swords
Business Consultant, Retired Consulate General of Japan
Brian Swords served the Consulate General of Japan for more than 33 years until his retirement on Jan. 31, 2023, making significant contributions to the development of Japan-U.S. economic relations. In the Economic Affairs division, Swords developed long-term cooperative relationships with economic organizations in California, including the Milken Institute, a nonprofit think tank, the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, and the World Trade Center Los Angeles, to promote trade and investment between Japan and the U.S.
In addition, Brian established founding relationships with Global Chamber and VerdeExchange. With Global Chamber his leadership in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan helped create the annual Global Chamber Semiconductor Summit. Through his collaborations, Brian has worked to increase awareness of green technology and expand business opportunities for Japanese companies for 17 years since 2005.
In addition to his work in the Economic Affairs division, Brian contributed greatly to the overall activities of the Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles. He was involved in a wide variety of duties and actively supported other divisions, including handling inquiries about Japanese domestic and diplomatic affairs with the Policy and Partnerships division and building relationships with former U.S. military personnel who served at U.S. bases in Japan. Brian retired from the consulate on Jan. 31, 2023, and currently works as a freelance business consultant helping Japanese companies expand their business in the U.S. He also lectures on the Japanese economy as a guest lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Business and Saddleback Community College. Through such activities, he continues to work to promote understanding of U.S.-Japan relations among a wide range of generations of Americans. Brian serves on the advisory board of Global Chamber Los Angeles.
In November 2024, the Government of Japan announced two Fall 2024 Decorations for distinguished persons being awarded. First the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays was announced for Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, 75, of Los Angeles, owner of Matsuhisa restaurant group and joint owner of Nobu. And... the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold and Silver Rays was announced for Brian Swords, formerly of Consulate General of Japan in Los Angeles. Read more.
Christine Peterson
Director of International Trade & Investment at the Mayor's Office at the City of Los Angeles
Ms. Christine Peterson is the Director of International Trade & Investment for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. She facilitates global trade opportunities, strengthens foreign government and business relationships, attracts foreign investment, and supports sea and air cargo for companies, workers, manufacturers and innovators in Los Angeles.
Previously, Ms. Peterson was a Director of Innovation and Intellectual Property in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in the Executive Office of the President where she worked on negotiations of the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement. Ms. Peterson has also worked in the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce to promote U.S. exports.
She was born in Anchorage and raised in Seattle. She holds a JD from American University Washington College of Law and a BA from Smith College.
Claire Shao
U.S. Chief Representative at Invest Shanghai
Shanghai Foreign Investment Development Board /Shanghai Overseas Investment Development Board (also called as “INVEST SHANGHAI”), established in December 1999, is a professional foreign investment Promotion agency under the administration of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.
The mission of INVEST SHANGHAI is to promote two-way investment, and support enterprises to make the best investment decision locally and globally.It maintains close collaboration with each district, development zone and overseas investment agencies' offices in Shanghai. Also it has ten overseas offices in Los Angeles, Osaka, London, Frankfurt and Gothenburg to build up its global network.
Ms. Claire Shao is the newly appointed chief representative to the US office. She was the first secretary of Chinese Embassy Commercial department in Slovenia and Lithuania for six years. She would love to connect with you to explore the economic and trade cooperation between Shanghai and US companies, and move forward together.

David, a California native of 50 years, received his U.S. Customs Brokerage License in 2004. He has spent the last 25 years in the industry, specializing in the pharmaceutical industry, metals industry, and Foreign Trade Zone industry. David spends his free time serving on the LACBFFA and FTA boards along with committee participation in the DECSC, NCBFAA, NAFTZ, ICPA, and Global Chamber of Commerce. David is a champion of education, sharing his wealth of knowledge to help others be successful through understanding the benefits and obstacles of exporting. David is honored and privileged to guest lecture at prominent universities such as UNLV, Cal Poly and many others. Above all, David values spending time with his wife, Dawn, and their three children Andrew, Adam, and Emma.
Dilip Shah
President, Sourcing International
Dilip Shah was a Kuwait-based entrepreneur and international trade specialist with over 45 years of experience in Kuwait and an additional decade in India. A graduate engineer, he began his career in engineering before building a distinguished presence in marketing and global trade across multiple sectors.
After relocating to Kuwait in 1978 during its rapid development phase, Dilip specialized in structural and construction steel, managing this vertical for nearly a decade and developing deep expertise in international sourcing, pricing, and supply-chain strategy—particularly with Japanese manufacturers serving the Middle East.
He later expanded into advanced construction specialties and innovative building materials, introducing niche architectural and engineering solutions to the Kuwaiti market at the peak of infrastructure growth. His career was defined by strategic sourcing, trusted global partnerships, and adaptability to evolving industry demands.
As a Board Member of Global Chamber, Dilip Shah contributed extensive global trade insight, construction materials expertise, and decades of hands-on international business experience in support of cross-border collaboration and economic growth.
Elliot Pineda

Pinzon Analytics is a software development company in Phoenix with operations in Canada, United states, and Mexico.
Elliot Pineda has a software engineering background and founded his company in 2006 focusing on business intelligence solutions, software packages, custom solutions for web, mobile and SharePoint.

Elizabeth Glynn
Speaker/Advisor at EMG Global Business Solutions
Elizabeth Glynn is a global operations and export development professional. With 25+ years’ experience in export operations, trade finance, and global transportation, she works with manufacturers to build exporting into their business planning so that they access and maximize sales opportunities in global markets.
Early in her career Glynn worked for two (2) global logistics companies. Glynn then transitioned to International Manager for a company that nearly tripled its global sales in two (2) years. She reorganized the global transportation infrastructure; managed export, import, foreign-based transactions; facilitated multi-country shipments, free trade zone projects; negotiated letters of credit. As Consultant to a medical device manufacturer, Glynn developed and implemented an export plan that positioned the company to export with greater ease and expand its sales outreach to multiple global markets. As Export Advisor for an aerospace & defense company, Elizabeth worked with business units to facilitate the export process to enhance delivery to its foreign buyers. She helped a business unit coordinate real-time coordination of shipments from California, Florida, and Europe for shipping to a destination in Africa. Glynn has facilitated export management programs for Manufacturing Executive Teams to create, and then implement, export strategies. Of 67 companies eight (8) were recognized with export awards, including three (3) that received the President’s ‘E’ Award (2015, 2018, 2019).
Glynn has taught global business management, global transportation, export, operations, and managing culture in business at various universities and companies. Active in the Southern California global trade network, she serves on the World Trade Week Committee (LA Chamber of Commerce), the California Inland Empire District Export Council, and the U.S.- Mexico Chamber of Commerce. In partnership with key organizations Glynn has supported multiple Baja California (Mexico) Trade Tours for manufacturers.
Glynn received her Management of International Management (MIM) degree from the Thunderbird School of Global Management (ASU) and her B.A. from the University of California, Irvine. She holds the Certified Global Business Professional (CBGP) designation.
Fernando Cevallos Meza

James Huang

James Huang is the president of the commercial division of eXp World Holdings. He is also a shareholder and advisor to real estate syndication firms and start-up technology companies to help consult, raise capital, and make connections to other private equity investors and family offices, from main street to wall street.
As President of eXp Commercial, James oversees building and running commercial and ancillary services to support the growth of commercial real estate both domestically and globally. In addition to his knowledge of the industry,
James brings invaluable operation experience, having launched and managed several companies from the start-up to the profitability phase. In October 2019, he was installed as the national president of AREAA.
Jeffery Daar

Jeffery Daar is a principal of the law firm Daar & Newman in Los Angeles, USA. Jeffrey Williamson

Jeffrey A. Williamson has 25 years global marketing experience in the public and private sectors, having conducted business in more than 50 countries (China, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East) in consumer electronics, consumer package goods, defense and medical products. He is with the International Business Development team for Ant Group, a global fintech services company based in Sunnyvale, CA providing cross-border payments and collections solutions for e-commerce marketplaces and U.S. Exporters and Importers.
Prior to joining Ant Group he led the California State Trade and Export Promotion Program, which supported more than 1,000 California businesses to participate in more than 100 overseas trade missions/exhibitions, capturing over $200 million in exports, it was the largest State-based export promotion program in the United States. He has been an executive on loan to the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GoBIZ) (appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger – 2010-2012), to facilitate multiple Governor-led trade missions to China, Germany, Canada, Korea, Japan and Mexico. He has launched several global projects for trade and education in cooperation with multiple U.S agencies and foreign governments supported by over $30 million in funding.
Jeff has been a part-time faculty member of Global Marketing at California State University, Fullerton (2007-20220, and is also a part-time faculty member at the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi Vietnam (2014-current). Jeff has been a panel expert for the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC; worked with UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business on a study of the impact of Services Exports trade for California (2006); is a recipient of the President’s “E-Award” for export service excellence (2013), and Regional Export Program Partner of the Year Award, Export Import Bank of the United States. Jeff received a B.A. Economics from Arizona State University and an MBA from California State University, Fullerton.

Jenna Fuentes is an innovative, creative, and international community builder who is passionate about facilitating belonging, cross-pollinating industries as well as creating solutions for social impact. She has over 15 years’ experience in enhancing hundreds of programs, events, and partnerships for clients in the higher education, accelerator, arts, and nonprofit sectors. Working for an edtech startup that scaled and exited in three years, combined with working abroad in Spain and Argentina changed her life, worldview, and her approach to solving problems.

Marisela Caraballo DiRuggiero
Director of Trade Development at the Port of Los Angeles.
Port of Los Angeles is the busiest container port in North America. Marisela ensures the Port fulfills its mission to connect U.S. businesses throughout America with overseas trade opportunities, particularly exports, through trade promotion seminars known as the Trade Connect program.
With extensive experience in public policy development, issues management and legislative advocacy, Marisela is also responsible for the outreach to professional associations and government agencies to promote specialized business opportunities in key commodity areas, with an emphasis on export cargoes. Additionally, Marisela oversees the function of intergovernmental relations with foreign governments, advancing the Port’s influence on expanding trade markets, and is the Port’s point person to the international diplomatic community. She has purposefully advanced the Port’s influence on the world stage by negotiating many sister port agreements promoting trade, environmental stewardship, infrastructure development, supply chain efficiencies, and increased security protocols.
As a result of her professionalism and accomplishments, Marisela was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to serve as a member of the District Export Council of Southern California to help promote U.S. exports and provide export education and assistance to small and medium size enterprises.
Melanie Fox
Founder & Speed Coach at Speech Fox
Melanie is an acclaimed dialect coach and accent reduction specialist who helps non-native English speakers articulate clear business English. Melanie works with executives, staff, and rising stars in entertainment/sports to overcome their difficulties and fears, as they interact, interview, network, or deliver presentations in English. She can coach clients from any world language, but has particular experience coaching speakers of Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, Italian, Russian, Chinese, and Japanese as well as accented English (regional variations of American or British English).
Melanie also designs and implements training for corporations, colleges, and adult schools – using customized online, blended model training formats. Melanie is knowledgeable in the area of computer assisted language learning and can recommend supplemental software to complement the live classes as needed. Melanie Fox holds a Master's of Linguistics from Georgetown University and has 15+ years of experience in the language education and professional development industries. She is a native speaker of American English, fluent in Spanish, proficient in Italian, and dabbles in Cantonese, Brazilian Portuguese, and a number of other languages.
Roberto Ancis

‘Prof’ Roberto J. Ancis is CEO, Coaching Professors, Inc. and CEO, Consulting Professors Online, LLC. Roberto is a native of Florence, Italy. A scientist, business entrepreneur, international business consultant, and book author, ‘Prof’ Ancis, as he is called by his MBA students at the University of Phoenix, founded his Strategic and Marketing Business Consulting Group in 1981, in West Los Angeles, California.
Having personally assisted more than 350 innovation technology clients, and trained over 65,000 seminar participants, in 2006, ‘Prof.’ Ancis moved to Arizona, as CEO of Coaching Professors, Inc, a consulting company providing strategic business and creative marketing advisory, sales re-engineering, consumer buyer research and psychology, and business metrics. Sarita D. Jackson, Ph.D.

Sarita D. Jackson, PhD is the founder, president, and CEO of the Global Research Institute of International Trade (GRIIT), a US-based think-tank and consulting firm. Her firm saves firms time and money, as well as mitigates risks, as they expand globally via up-to-date, data-driven, customized market research and strategy development.
Dr. Jackson is also an author, TEDx speaker, and business school instructor. Her book, International Trade in Services: Effective Practice and Policy, was recently published by Routledge Taylor and Francis Group. She received her B.A. degree in broadcast journalism and Spanish from the University of Southern California and earned a Ph.D. in political science (emphasis on international political economy) from Brown University.
Shalom Bako

Shalom moved to the United States as teenager; excelling as an athlete with teams like the Los Angeles Galaxy. Stephan has worked for companies ranging from Fortune 500 auto manufacturers to consulting and creative agencies. He speaks 6 languages and has worked on three continents: Europe, Americas, Asia, most recently in Japan.
The personal transportation industry is going through a complete revolution, as Connected, Autonomous, mobility Services and Electric vehicles (CASE) are drastically changing the landscape. Existing auto manufacturers need to invest in those new fields without a guaranteed ROI. New entrants are disrupting the traditional manufacturing, marketing and distribution channels and models. New experiential branding, data analytics and digital marketing strategies are required to shift the industry to a new paradigm on a global scale.

Sumeet “Sam” Nangia, Esq. is a Los Angeles based attorney, business advisor and real estate broker consultant Mr. Nangia has over 18 years of legal and business experience, advising clients in various industries including real estate, retail, franchising, manufacturing and technology, and being well versed in acquisitions, finance, joint ventures and leasing. He is experienced managing and working on teams and projects, including strategic planning, project oversight and integration. Mr. Nangia is a partner in an international business consulting firm that assists upper middle market and US public operating companies with outbound expansion into India, and similar Indian companies expanding inbound into the US. Mr. Nangia similarly assists investors (VC’s, PE’s, Family Offices and HNI’s) invest in India, leveraging existing relationships with Indian incubators, accelerators, law firms, banks, and other stakeholders in the burgeoning Indian investment community. Mr. Nangia is also a practicing attorney in Los Angeles, focused on the Commercial Real Estate, Corporate and M&A practice areas.
Mr. Nangia started his career in KPMG’s International Tax Advisory services group, where he worked on teams advising upper middle-market and Fortune 500 companies on international tax planning strategy, including holding company structures, tax treaty analysis and planning, the foreign tax credit regime, and other tax planning strategies, primarily related to outbound transactions and businesses. He also served as COO and General Counsel at the Black Lion Investment Group, a retail shopping center investment group based in Beverly Hills, California, and has also worked with several prominent Southern California based law firms and large private-sector companies, including Shea Properties and the Empire Group of Companies, advising and working with some of the largest companies in the U.S. and India, including Lennar Homes, KB Homes, Shea Properties, Stater Bros., and the Unitech Group (India). Sam frequently speaks at business and legal events and seminars, focusing on such issues as India high growth industries, trends and opportunities, real estate transactions and trends (both in-bound to the U.S. and out-bound to India), business expansion, international law and risk management.
He received an LL.M. in Taxation and International / Corporate Law from the University of San Diego School of Law, Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, and dual undergraduate degrees in economics and political science from UCLA.
